Ruth + Sean
One of the sunniest days of the year. Ruth and Sean's wedding was a beautifully heartfelt celebration, set against the backdrop of St Joseph's RC Church in Kilmarnock. With its 170-year history, the chapel not only provided a stunning and traditional setting but also held deep sentimental value, as it was the same place where Ruth's parents had exchanged their vows years ago. The ceremony was a touching blend of past and present, filled with emotional moments that highlighted Ruth and Sean’s history.
Following the ceremony, the festivities moved to the elegant Lochgreen House Hotel in Troon for a grand reception. The hotel, known for its luxurious ambiance and stunning gardens, was the perfect venue to host their guests. The reception was so lively, with laughter, joy, and heartfelt toasts filling the air. The venue’s staff ensured that every detail was perfect, creating a seamless and memorable experience for everyone in attendance.
One of the highlights of the day was the perfect weather, with warm sunshine and clear skies that lasted throughout. This provided the ideal conditions for a creative shoot on Troon beach, where I had the pleasure of capturing Ruth and Sean in some truly magical moments alongside the awesome and talented photographer Gary Bonar. The light from golden hour added such an epic glow to their film, and the busy atmospheric Troon beach made it so much fun to shoot on.
For me, as a videographer, Ruth and Sean's wedding was an absolute joy to film. The couple, along with their guests, exuded happiness and warmth, making my job effortless and enjoyable. Everyone was incredibly kind and welcoming, which made the experience even more special. It was a day filled with love, laughter, and beautiful memories, and I feel honored to have been part of capturing such an extraordinary celebration.
I asked Ruth and Sean to answer my usual four questions and below are their answers.
Can you give me a brief rundown of your wedding day?:
Our day started off with our wedding mass at St Joseph's RC church in Kilmarnock. This was the chapel my parents were married in and I had my first communion and confirmation it meant a lot that Sean and I were married here. Then our reception took place at Lochgreen house hotel in Troon. We were so lucky weather wise it was 25degrees which meant we were able to have our drinks reception outside in the sun in the gorgeous hotel gardens. David from Dawn Patrol entertained our guests through out the day and him and the rest of the band had everyone dancing all night.
What do you remember most about your wedding day?:
Sean & I going to south beach at Troon with Robert our videographer and Gary our photographer. As the weather was so good we didn’t want to waste the opportunity of some lovely pictures before the sun went down. What we didn’t anticipate was that half of Ayrshire would also be at there. There was families having bbq, dogs swimming and even some tourists from Boston. It definitely made things a little more difficult for Robert & Gary but Sean and I have the best memories of that evening. So many kind people coming over to us to congratulate us. The footage and pictures we have are stunning. We loved it.
Why did you choose your wedding venue?:
We actually had another venue in mind when we got engaged and felt we couldn’t just visit that hotel we should go to at least one other to look at options. Lochgreen was outstanding and they blew us away with just one visit. We knew instantly it was the venue for us. The grounds are stunning, the staff were so attentive and the food was perfect. We had guests who hadn’t been to Lochgreen before, family from Ireland and Australia they all loved Lochgreen and always mention how amazing the hotel was.
What made you decide to have your wedding filmed?:
It was a must for us. We have been to so many weddings and know that even as a guest the day goes past so quickly. We wanted to make sure to capture as much of the day as possible. Robert was amazing. From the start of the day till late in the evening Robert was a joy to work with. He had us all totally relaxed and at ease. Our footage from the day is just perfect.
