An intimate wedding in Oxfordshire

2020 was a year of unprecedented challenges, especially for couples planning to tie the knot. Many had to cancel or postpone their dream weddings due to the pandemic. But for Rebecca and Rubehn, their wedding day still happened, albeit on a smaller scale. It was one of the few micro weddings that I had the pleasure of shooting, and it was a beautiful day filled with love, laughter, and stunning scenery.

Rebecca and Rubehn's original plan was to get married in Skye, a breathtakingly beautiful island off the west coast of Scotland. However, due to COVID-19 restrictions, they had to rethink their plans and relocate to a village called Brill in Buckinghamshire, not far from Oxford. While Brill is vastly different from Skye, it has its own unique charm and beauty that made for a picturesque setting for their wedding.

As a wedding videographer, I'm always on the lookout for stunning wedding locations to capture beautiful moments, and Brill did not disappoint. The village is an archetypal country village, with its thatched roofs, quaint cottages, and charming countryside views. I could have easily spent the whole day wandering around the village, capturing its beauty.

However, the real highlight of the day was capturing Rebecca and Rubehn's love and joy as they exchanged their vows in front of their close family and friends. Despite the challenges that 2020 threw at them, they were able to celebrate their love in a meaningful and intimate way. Both families were incredibly welcoming and great fun to be around, which made my job even more enjoyable.

Looking back on that day, I am filled with warm feelings and a sense of gratitude for being able to capture such beautiful moments. Micro weddings may not have the grandeur of bigger weddings, but they are just as special in their own way. The focus is on the couple and their love for each other, which makes it even more meaningful. I am grateful to have been a part of Rebecca and Rubehn's special day, and I wish them a lifetime of happiness together.

Below are their answers to my blog questions.

Can you give me a brief rundown of your wedding day?

Due to COVID restrictions, we had only 15 people attending for the day. We broke down into the bride and grooms parties getting ready for the day altogether.
A short car journey to the picturesque village of Brill we had our ceremony in the garden of The Pointer. Afterwards, enjoying a short walk to Brill Hill and the windmill where the weather was extremely kind to us.
Upon returning to The Pointer our drinks reception and meal were beautiful. All in all a magical day considering it was the fourth time we’d planned it!

What do you remember most about your wedding day?

The ceremony standing opposite my husband with all our closest family and friends together and magical walk in the sunshine with everyone afterwards to the windmill.

Why did you choose your wedding venue?

A small, picturesque village just down the road from where we lived, we wanted somewhere that would be memorable, scenic for photography and video but also close enough that we could revisit time and time again.

What made you decide to have your wedding filmed?

As beautiful as the day was; it’s a fact of life that memories fade over time. Having such a special occasion recorded keeps the memories alive forever and will never fade!
